Cassie is supportive, knowledgeable and she will challenge her students! My daughter has learned music history, theory, written and performed her own piece of music and improved her technical abilities on the instrument. As we are a busy family, she was always gracious about makeup lessons as well. Top class!!! - Chris S.

I’m passionate about helping you grow and love your flute.

Hi there! Call me Cassie.

San Diego, CA and Online Flute Teacher

So nice to meet you! I’m on a mission to turn classical music education on its head to keep more students loving being musicians, avoiding burning out, and highlighting music to be a lifelong journey for my students. With this, my students and I learn and grow together, valuing honesty, hard work, kindness, mindfulness, confidence, competence, and life experience outside of the classroom.

When I was 5 years old, I decided I wanted to be a musician and started playing classical guitar. I took lessons for 3 years before deciding it wasn’t the instrument that made my heart sing, but when I was 11 years old, I discovered the flute in my middle school band class.

I got my first flute, a $100 no-name instrument from eBay, and instantly fell in love! I played that thing until it, quite literally, fell apart. I worked hard, won competitions, and was even offered the opportunity to study at the Stravinsky Conservatory in St. Petersburg. I kept pushing myself and got accepted into the prestigious residential high school program at the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities and continued to fall more in love with music and earning a bachelor’s degree in music.

Fun facts: I’m a dog mom, I love baking, and (duh!) I have tattoos!

I have three goofy, incredible dogs, a Saint Bernard, a retired military Belgian Malinois, and a puppy German Shorthaired Pointed (send help!). They’re amazing and I love it when they hang out during lessons. They love listening to the flute and love meeting my studens (even virtually!).

Baking is another passion of mine, although I don’t share it with the world as much - it’s sort of my “I’m not the best at this, but I do it anyway” project. I love making fun, creative desserts like purple cinnamon rolls for Halloween, Milk Bar Pie, and I make a mean snickerdoodle for the holidays.

Finally, I love tattoos. I see my tattoos as a unique patchwork of my life thus far. You’ll notice a few are spooky (I love Halloween!), a few are of dogs, and of course, there are a few just random ones in there. I love celebrating art and expressing myself through it, which is a lot of what we do here in the studio!

I find it’s important to value hobbies and interests outside of music because, just like everyone else, musicians are prone to burnout! It doesn’t make you a bad musician or any less dedicated than everyone else if you’re experiencing this. Trust me, I have my own burnout stories that I’m happy to share over a virtual coffee or lesson time!

Whether you're returning to the flute or starting fresh, I would love to be your teammate. Together, we'll make flute playing a fun and enriching experience for a lifetime. I can't wait to meet you and embark on this musical adventure together!
